March 31, 2023—Spearheaded by the Ateneo de Davao University Senior High School (AdDU-SHS) Academic Cluster, the Christopher Clavius SJ Awardees for Best Strand Research Paper from Grade 12 learners presented their studies during the 2023 Research Dissemination at the campus gymnasium.
With the success of their research defense, chosen groups from Grade 12 deliberately provided data about their investigation mainly to the four panelists who attended, namely: Dr. Divina Sabanal, Christina Diaz, Ph.D., Engr. Rapha Julysses Perez, and Lisa Floresca, RN, Ph.D., MAN, DNS.
Given the criteria and mechanics, the researchers had to present their findings in no more than ten slides with a time limit of 5 to 7 minutes, excluding the short question and answer portion.
“This research taught me a lot. Especially about teamwork, since you cannot do this research alone because it’s pretty hard and it takes a lot of your time and energy. You cannot cram this research because if you cram it, some points would be pretty bad like the idea of it would be kind of blurry, and it would be hard to explain,” stated Azil Saus, a Grade 12 STEM Pre-EA (Science, Technology, Mathematics, and Engineering, Pre-Engineering and Architecture) research presenter from section De Hoyos.
“Cytotoxicity of Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) and Bay Leaf (Laurus nobilis) Leaf Extract Mixture Using Onion (Allium cepa) Root Assay” of 12 - Beyzym received Fr. Georges Lemaître Award for Best Presenters.
James Cajes, from Grade 11 Ogilvie, also shared that this research dissemination would greatly help him in his upcoming research study next school year, as this event aided him in realizing that there are a lot of problems that need action in our society today.
The Grade 11 students were then tasked with writing a reaction paper, in line with their Practical Research 1, about the research that piqued their interest and what they intend to do to be prepared for the research study they will be conducting in the future.
