January 7, 2023 — Ateneo de Davao University Senior High School (AdDU-SHS) is set to launch Ignite 2023, the annual school intramurals, on February 23-24. Prior to the event, the school will be conducting tryouts for students interested in representing their respective clusters.

The Pulsong Atenista Student Government (PASG), along with the moderator and teachers from different clusters, expressed their support by being present despite the tryouts being held on the weekend. There are eight clusters and seven sports with varying schedules. Despite the gloomy weather, the Ateneans continue to ignite their fire with the hopes of fighting for their teams.

Volleyball. Different sections, same intentions. As they moved their body to catch the ball, they jumped, yearning for a victory of a spike. These students showed that they could lead their cluster to the championship. A fire burned through their eyes as the atmosphere got intense. The selected students showcased a different kind of determination and power during their tryouts.

Basketball. A game wherein skills are required, and teamwork is a must. Strangers outside the game became teammates fighting for their aim. Sweats were dropping, and legs were burning, but these students displayed that all of this was nothing, as they craved the taste of winning.

Futsal. Creative thinking is necessary, and being comfortable with the ball is a necessity. Students showed that sports could be a way to help them discover their skills and be confident about them. A fresh air that these students needed.

Chess. A beautiful game that is intellectually challenging. A game that requires the participants to have a brilliant mind and absolute focus in each stage. These students proved they could show their skills and make the game captivating and intense, as it always is.

Badminton. Ateneans showed that they are physically and mentally fit as their endurance and creative thinking were showcased during their tryouts. As the game went on, speed, agility, and skill were maintained despite the long rally since they were determined to show their worth and abilities.

Table Tennis. Participants focused on the ball and controlled their pace, for winning was their only way out. They never settle for less, and their skills and determination were a piece of evidence for that.

Swimming. A sport where the fastest one always wins and the slow drowns behind the waves created by the winner. As the students from each cluster tried out for their swimming team, they showed passion and determination to finish faster than their peers.

These students showed their vigor and determination to be chosen to represent their clusters by taking their energy to the next level and embodying the Ignatian core value, Magis.
