On February 23-24, 2023, the Ateneo de Davao University Senior High School (AdDU-SHS) Grade 12 Humanities and Social Science (HUMSS) students opened their booths for Ignite 2023 days 1 and 2 for their HUMSS Ignite Selling at building E beside the Ecoteneo office, in pursuit of becoming Sui Generis leaders aiming for social harmony and nation-building through entrepreneurship and economic betterment.
The business booths included for the HUMSS Ignite Selling are S-Pins, Knotural, Beaded and Bejeweled, Sticky Generis, CalungSOLDS, and Hangin: On.
“We are selling products to give hope and support to our beneficiaries. In our simple and small ways as senior high school students, we wanted to be a part of the solution. We wanted to be the solution. Thus, this selling is more than just the monetary funds we get, but more importantly, about the things we are fighting for. For our environment. For every disadvantaged woman. For every child left behind,” Fatima Mae Tanudra, the class representative and general manager for 12 - Calungsod’s CalungSOLDS, stated.
Tanudra also shared how there was no competition between the six HUMSS sections in selling and that they even buy and support each other's products.
In connection, Winarni Bunagbong, the sales manager of the S-pins, also shared that, “Running our booth from planning to the execution and even the wrapping up led us as a section to embody the spirit of camaraderie. We needed to set aside our differences as we worked together as one for a common goal.”
The booths were achieved in partnership with the students' Entrepreneurship, Community Engagement, Solidarity and Citizenship, Arrupe Office of Social Formation, and Trends and Network in the 21st Century and Creative Nonfiction subjects.
Aliana Calalas, a Grade 11 STEM student who pre-ordered at Beaded and Bejeweled, expressed that, “The HUMSS Grade 12 students were well-accommodating and aside from their good quality products, I could see that they had very good customer service as they were efficient in working and fast to reply to orders and concerns.”
The S-pins booth, spearheaded by 12 - Bobola sold pins with a wide variety of designs; Knotural by 12 - Borgia made macrame tumbler holders with various colors, including pink, blue, red, beige, and black to choose from, the Beaded and Bejeweled business booth of 12 - Briant created accessories such as bracelets and necklaces.
While the Stickey Generis booth by 12 - Campion offered fashionable stickers with a wide range of designs, the grade 12 - Calungsod with their CalungSOLDS sold scented candles, and the Hangin: On booth by 12 - Canisius had created the Zodiac, Ateneo, and Strand fan collections for students to buy.
A part of the proceeds the students gained will be allotted to their partner organizations, including The Philippine Eagle Foundation, SMAC Orphanage, and Talikala Inc.
More specifically, sections Borgia and Bobola are partnered with the Philippine Eagle Foundation, while sections Canisius and Briant are assigned to the Talikala Inc., and Calungsod and Campion support the Sorelle Missionarie dell'Amore di Cristo Inc. (SMAC).
