A drumline throbbed to the beat of the school cheers. Orchestrated chants clamored on the bleachers. Choreographed dance routines were executed, injecting both character and creativity.

The Davao Association of Catholic Schools (DACS) Sportsfest 2023 Cheerdance Competition (CDC) witnessed jaw-dropping performances as the Holy Cross of Davao (HCDC) Gymnasium was filled with thrills and cheers from two-participating universities, Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) and the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) last January 21, 2023.

Indisputably one of the most highly anticipated events in the annual DACS Sports fest, each team invested a significant amount of time and effort in sealing the crown and being hailed as the best cheering squad in the sports fest.

Kicking off an electric lineup of performances, the UIC High Pep Squad ignited the hard court while executing stellar flips and catches to impress the crowd with their coordinated stunts. UIC spurred the crowd, as eye-catching as their neon costumes and bright props.

Shining in their satin and sequined costumes was the Ateneo Blue Knights Pep Squad, who performed last. Keeping up with the crowd's momentum, the Ateneo Blue Knights Pep Squad hoofed to the beat of their famous "One Big Fight "cheer to commence their execution. The squad showcased a fusion of modern choreographic moves accompanied by enchanting props to solidify their near-perfect finish.

After finishing in third place last DACS Sports fest 2019, the Ateneo Blue Knights Pep Squad clinched the cheerdance crown this year. Ateneo cheer dancer Aleena Samantha Gumapac expressed her delight with their triumphant performance, "It makes me so happy and proud despite having only two-week preparations for everything."

Despite a stellar showcase, UIC was unable to secure a podium finish, clinching only second place.

UIC High Pep Squad team captain Pamela Matondo gave her team their well-deserved praises for their internal growth and dedication to the competition. "I'm so proud of this team. Regardless of the results, we're still happy," shared Matondo in the post-performance interview.

The cheer dancers will go on spirited, fighting with every breath in them to rally their schools to victory.
