April 14, 2023—The Ateneo de Davao University Senior High School (AdDU-SHS) Community conducted a club awarding ceremony at the campus gymnasium entitled “Ascend. Arrive. Adapt: Club Awards 2023,” where various clubs and individual awards were announced and given on stage.
Hosted by Alaisa Abjilina and Robs Briones, each category of club winners was decided by a panel of judges consisting of Mr. Kenneth Paul Recaña, Ms. Kathrine Matunog, RN, and Ms. Imma Concepcion Oani, RGC, RPM.
Every club has its designated clusters: Socio-Civic, Religious, Arts and Culture, Sports, Academics, Publication, and Governance.
Red Cross Youth (RCY) Crystal President Neomie Joanne Jereza had expressed that the club awarding was able to showcase the capabilities of each club through recognition since each award represented their various contributions to the AdDU community. She also shared how it is through sharing those capabilities that the hard work of the officers and the members can inspire the future set of members and officers to strive more for the club and community.
When asked what challenges their club faced that led to their accomplishments, Ateneo Society of Public Speakers (A-Speak) President Mickayla Almadin shared that the notable struggle they had as a club was finding a common ground for meetings, and deadlines, especially with the face-to-face schedule.
“Overall, it grounds to communication and commitment; through these two, the club can always find a way to resolve and surpass any challenges we face,” she added.
The following are some of the recognition granted to each club: Most Outstanding Club Booth—both from the Christ the King (CTK) Fiesta and Ignite Club Booth Expo—Most Creative and Innovative Program, Special Award for Environmental Sustainability, Most Outstanding Club President, and Club Moderator.
For every major award, each has its own criteria. St. Jean de Brebuf for Talent Development, St. Peter Faber Award for Spiritual Development, St. Francis Xavier Award for Leadership Development, Fr. Pedro Arrupe Award for Community Engagement, and Ignatius de Loyola Award for Club of the Year.
